Chase the Sun UK South is self-supported longest-day cycle challenge, however, unless you have someone willing to drive you to the start before sunrise and pick you up at the finish after sunset then staying overnight at both the start and finish locations is an integral and enjoyable part of the mid-summer weekend’s adventure.

Your registration is to join the ride. You need to arrange and book your own accommodation independently. Below are links to conveniently located hotels, availability of rooms is limited, so you need to contact the accommodation and book your own rooms ASAP to avoid missing out.

Trains from London

(check rail websites for accuracy)
Fast trains depart St Pancras approximately every 30 minutes to Sittingbourne, other slower trains leave from London Victoria or Waterloo East (Note: Cycles are NOT permitted on trains between 16:00-18:59hrs). Travel times are between 30-60min to Sittingbourne, from here either change trains to Sheerness station (on the Isle) or cycle circa 1hr to the Abbey Hotel at the start location.

For those unable to make early trains, the next St Pancras cycle service is the 1925hrs departure. (other trains leave from London Victoria or Waterloo East).

Travel Tips

Return Trains from Weston to London/Bristol

Most riders book a stay in Weston-Super-Mare for the night and then head home Sunday morning.

Weston -Super-Mare rail station is only a mile or so from the finishline. There are relatively regular trains on the West Coast mainline, heading to destinations via Bristol, it is best to pre-book a bike space, as they can be very busy, or talk nicely to the guard!

Weston is not far off the M5 motorway, so it’s not too difficult if you have someone driving to meet you.

Return Travel and bike transport support service
This year we have a logistics partner providing a return journey for person & bike transfer via coach from the finish at Weston-Super-Mare to a central London location or back to the Isle of Sheppey start location. This departs on Sunday morning. For more details of this service and pricing check out our travel partners page.
