Chace The Sun 2024 (326)

UK South 2024

A bumper year for participation!
The collective of riders tackling our UK South route has grown again in numbers in 2024, yet still retains the spirit and unique camaraderie along the road that creates so many memories people savour from their epic mid-summer day’s rides.

The weather was good through the day, culminating in a perfect sunset over the Weston beach. So rider’s families and supporters also enjoying a long day out in cheering on the cyclists. Thanks to all who provided support, encouragement and assistance along the way – a great collective spirit!

Our biggest year to date, with 875 starters, 750 finishers, and 578 riders arriving before sunset… Congratulations to all riders who Chased the Sun in the South this year! You can also set out to tackle our even more spectacular routes across Northern England/Scotland, Ireland and Italy – collect all the ‘four sunset’ routes to complete the challenge!

Again this year we award for an extra special effort to:

  • Determined Rider(s) of The Day Award
  • Neil Alexander – riding to cross the country from his home in Kent, reaching the Somerset coast in time to reunite with an old friend – our CTS finishline legend, local town cryer Alastair Murray! Pictured here the two mates in 1970, and again together at the finish more than 50 years on…
