Chasing the Sun on a magical mystery tour across Ireland

A few route tweaks for 2024 reduced elevation but maintained the dramatic scenery and wonderful storytelling of this route winding across the lush green island of Ireland. The historic Belfast dockyards saw over two hundred riders depart at sunrise, almost doubling participation in our newest event’s 3rd year! Of course, this event wouldn’t be the same without the chance for families and supporters to come out and follow this years riders across their longest day’s travels.

This year saw 215 starters, with 198 finishers, of which 168 riders successfully ‘Chased the Sun’ by arriving on the west coast before sunset… This route is a spectacularly challenging Chase the Sun adventure, a big congratulations to all the riders who took up the challenge in 2024 – huge kudos to everyone ! ​

Cess Holden – Astonishing determination from Cess, who had suffered awful injury including two broken wrists, yet resolved to attempt to Chase the Sun upon a recumbent tricycle! Whilst not aiming for speed and sunset, Cess triumphed by successfully riding Coast to Coast on the longest midsummer day – chapeau Cess!!
