Chase the Sun are delighted to announce that we are supporting the inclusive cycling charity PedAll each autumn with particpation and donations to the PASS THE PEDALL fundraising challenge this September. At Chase the Sun we are proud to support several wider cycling community programmes and initiatives, with the aim of helping to encourage everyone to appreciate the benefits of cycling.

CHASE THE SUN SUPPORTS CYCLING FOR ALL
As you know, here at Chase the Sun, we are all about creating inspiring cycling adventures. By helping ordinary cyclists achieve extraordinary goals, we’ve seen how cycling can support riders’ fitness, health and mental wellbeing along the way. Our recent documentary project Chasing the Sun saw us work with a team of filmmakers to capture the stories of people across the UK working towards similar goals. Inspired by what we saw, we resolved to get more involved in giving something back to riders and community groups working in this space.
In this spirit, we hope that you Chase the Sun followers will help us support PedALL on a fundraising adventure taking place around the upcoming Equinox (when the day and night are equal 12hr lengths) – this is an Autumnal challenge that has many parallels with your own longest day sunrise-to-sunset adventures…
THE ‘PASS THE PEDALL’ RELAY CHALLENGE!
Pass the PEDALL is a sponsored fundraiser, a dawn-to-dusk relay challenge taking place at New Park Manor in Brockenhurst each September. The event will bring PEDALL’s inclusive cycling community together to ensure a ‘Pedal Baton’ keeps moving between multiple groups of riders who between them will aim to cycle non-stop for 12 hours to see how far we can collectively go between sunrise-to-sunset!
The goal is for groups of riders to collaborate together to keep the baton (a Golden Pedal!) moving non-stop, passing between different riders on the course across the whole day. The riders will complete short loops of a light gravel pathway circuit, and the event is hosted within the parkland grounds of New Park Manor Hotel, itself nestled within the New Forest national park, and just a couple of miles from Brockenhurst train station.
WHO IS TAKING PART – YOU CAN JOIN TOO!
Groups can consist of supporters and volunteers riding together to fundraise, or cycling individually in time slots or as a relay team over longer periods through the day.
Some teams will also include groups of regular PedALL additional needs riders who are taking on sections of the relay ride through the day as a challenge themselves.
Chase the Sun founder Olly and some of our volunteers will be joining the relay riding ourselves for time slots throughout the day, alongside the PedALL staff team to support them, and we’ll help keep the precious Golden Pedal Baton moving from dawn till dusk!
The event is open to all to join, riders can register to complete one or more 1hr time slots through the day to help add their own efforts to keep the Pedal Baton in motion.

WHY FUNDRAISE OR DONATE FOR PEDALL?
PEDALL is an organisation that ensures that regardless of physical or intellectual ability, age or confidence level, riders are able to enjoy and explore the natural beauty of the New Forest by cycle.
A dedicated group of part-time staff and volunteers currently assist around 4,000 people a year to experience a bike ride that might not otherwise be accessible to them. PedALL rides can cater for a wide range of abilities, including people with physical or intellectual disabilities, social or mental wellbeing needs, a visible or unseen condition, or those living with a health diagnosis.
The PASS THE PEDALL event is fundraising to support this work to continue. Trained Ride Leaders are required to run our inclusive cycle rides and we are continually adapting our fleet of specialist cycles to support a wider and more diverse range of additional needs. Spare parts (consumables) for maintenance and repairs, along with vehicle costs all require on-going funding.
PEDALL are such a brilliant charity project helping many people benefit from cycling who may not otherwise get a chance to ride – whether it is a challenge to ride for an hour, or all day until sunset – at Chase the Sun we hope to support everyone to ‘keep on pedalling’ towards the mental and physical benefits of cycling for all!.”
