200+ miles in a day is a long way for one pair of legs! Split the route into 30-60 mile sections, ridden in turns, with time to recover in between, while driving support.

Chase the Sun is a big challenge, made fun by sharing the experience with others. Riding in turns of pairs/ threes on the road is great for morale and memories.

We plot a flexible ‘Relay Rota’ plan for your team. All change-over locations considered and way-marked. Detailed route maps, timings and guidance will be issued to teams around a month prior to the event, along with split sections GPX and TCX route files.

The Team Relay plan

We plan – you ride!

The concept works on the premise of a ‘relay rota’ of 2 riders together on the road & 1 driver/co-driver – all alternating at designated stops.

Various permeations for riders and distances are permitted but the simplest are illustrated here. Each rider takes on 2 or 3 shorter ride stints across the day, taking their turn to drive the support vehicle in between.

Together – you can all get from sunrise to sunset!

A detailed relay team route plan, maps, GPX files, and timing/location schedules will be released to all registered teams via a download link in the spring.

The Route

Experience our most spectacular and challenging route, to Chase the Sun from sunrise on the Irish Sea at the historic Titanic docks of Belfast, up the dramatic coastal road and the Antrim Glens, heading inland to traverse forests, mountains, and loughs. Riders explore the mythical landscapes and landmarks of the ’emerald isle’. The route crosses the border of Northern and Republic of Ireland and finishes at sunset along the wild Atlantic way beaches at Enniscrone.

Final detailed route maps and timing schedules will be released to all registered riders via a download link in the spring—for now, the route overview graphic provides the vital statistics.
